PTOLEMAIC KINGS OF EGYPT. Ptolemy V Epiphanes, 205-180 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 24.5 mm, 14.09 g, 12 h), Alexandria or an uncertain mint in Palestine, Aristomenes, 199/8. Diademed bust of Ptolemy I to right, wearing aegis, and with a star-shaped thunderbolt on the diadem at the large curl of hair above Ptolemy I's ear. Rev. BAΣIΛEΩΣ ΠTOΛEMAIOΥ Eagle with closed wings standing left on thunderbolt; in the field to left, monogram of ΑΡ; to right, spearhead upwards. Carlen AJN 31, 2019 23-25 var. (o5b/R-, unrecorded reverse die). SNG Copenhagen 528. Svoronos 1250a. A very rare variety with the decorated diadem. Clear and lightly toned. Reverse slightly off-center, otherwise, good very fine.
