PTOLEMAIC KINGS OF EGYPT. Ptolemy IV Philopator, 225-205 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 25.5 mm, 13.80 g, 12 h), Askalon, year Δ = 4 = 219/8. Jugate busts right of Serapis, laureate, bearded and draped, and Isis, crowned, diademed and draped. Rev. ΠTOΛEMAIOY BAΣIΛEΩΣ Eagle with closed wings standing on thunderbolt to left, his head turned back to right, with cornucopiae at his shoulder; in field to left, AΣ; date LΔ on the right field. Landvatter 103 (same dies). Lorber 941. Very rare. An attractive piece of good style, toned as found. Extremely fine.
