PHILISTIA (PALESTINE). Azotos (Ashdod). Mid 5th century-333 BC. Drachm (Silver, 16.5 mm, 3.22 g, 11 h). Youthful, beardless, male head to right, his hair rolled at the back. Rev. Female head facing, of the "woman at the window" type, with long "Egyptianizing" hair, wearing necklace and with her long neck flanked by an aleph to left and a shin to right; the whole in a pelleted square within an incuse square. Gitler & Tal II. 8D. Extremely rare, well-struck, attractive, in good silver and with types engraved in a powerful, local style. With the usual reverse test cut and some marks and surface roughness, otherwise, good very fine.
