PHOENICIA. Tyre. 126/5 BC-AD 65/6. Shekel (Silver, 29 mm, 14.31 g, 1 h), year ΒΝ = 52 = 75/74. Laureate head of Melqart to right, with lion's skin tied around his neck. Rev. ΤΥΡΟΥ ΙΕΡΑΣ ΚΑΙ ΑΣΥΛΟΥ Eagle standing left on prow, with palm frond over his far shoulder; in the field to left, BN above club; between eagle's legs, beth; in the field to right, A. BMC 144. DCA 919. With a bold head of Melqart in high relief, nicely toned. Some deposits, otherwise, about extremely fine.

From the collection of W. Belser, Zürich, prior to 1965, and that of his son, acquired in the early 1970s.
