SELEUKID KINGS OF SYRIA. Antiochos III ‘the Great’, 223-187 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 29 mm, 17.04 g, 1 h), Antioch, circa 223-211/10. Diademed head of Antiochos III to right. Rev. ΒΑΣΙΛΕΩΣ ΑΝΤΙΟΧΟΥ Apollo seated to left on omphalos, holding arrow in his right hand and resting his left on bow at his side; outer left, inverted Ω above monogram of ΞΥ. SC 1041.2. Attractively toned, with an excellent portrait and with types struck in high relief. About extremely fine.

From the collection of W. Belser, Zürich, prior to 1965, and that of his son, acquired from Bank Leu in the 1960s-early 1970s, with its original ticket bearing the inventory number IA 7561.
