ΒΑΣΙΛΕΩΣ ΑΛΕΞΑΝΔΡΟΥ Apollo standing left, holding arrow in his right hand and resting left on grounded bow; to outer left, trident; to inner left, A; in exergue, monogram of ΠΑ. HGC 9, 901. SC 1795.3b. Dark patina. Planchet flaw and scratch on reverse, otherwise, very fine.

SELEUKID KINGS OF SYRIA. Alexander I Balas, 152-145 BC. (Bronze, 22.5 mm, 7.92 g, 1 h), contemporary imitation, copying an unattributed North Syrian mint. Diademed head of Alexander I to right. Rev. Debased legend reading partially ΑΛEΞANΔ Zeus seated left, holding eagle in outstretched right hand, long scepter in left. Cf. HGC 9, 909 and SC 1818 for prototype. A highly unusual and amusing imitation. Very fine.

Eagle with spread wings standing right, thyrsos over left wing. Rev. ΒΑΣΙΛΕΩΣ ΔΗΜΗΤΡΙΟΥ ΘΕΟΥ ΝΙΚΑΤΟΡΟΣ Thunderbolt; cornucopie to outer left, Ξ to inner left. HGC 9, 1139. Cf. SC 2171 (cornucopiae symbol not recorded). Green patina. Very fine.
