KINGS OF MACEDON. Alexander III ‘the Great’, 336-323 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 37 mm, 16.26 g, 11 h), Temnos, circa 188-170. Head of youthful Herakles to right, wearing lion's skin headdress. Rev. ΑΛΕΞΑΝΔΡΟΥ Zeus seated left on throne with a back, holding eagle in his right hand and scepter in his left; to left, above Zeus’s knee, E and monogram of ΠΑ; to left, vine-tendril with grapes around an oenochoe. Price 1678. Nice old collection toning. Obverse die-shift, otherwise, good very fine.
