KINGS OF MACEDON. Alexander III ‘the Great’, 336-323 BC. Drachm (Silver, 18 mm, 3.98 g, 12 h), struck posthumously under Antigonos I Monophthalmos, Abydos, circa 310-301. Head of youthful Herakles to right, wearing lion's skin headdress. Rev. ΑΛΕΞΑΝΔΡΟΥ Zeus seated left, holding eagle in his right hand and scepter in his left; in left field, monogram; below throne, Z. ADM II Series XVI. Price 1535. Lightly toned and well-centered. Very fine.
