THRACE. Ainos. Circa 463/2-462/1 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 24 mm, 15.51 g, 12 h). Head of Hermes to right, wearing petasos, his hair wound around his head in a plait. Rev. ΑΙΝI Goat standing right; before, dog standing right; all within incuse square. HGC 3.2, 1266. Cf. May, Ainos 28-29. Toned. Very fine.

From an old Swiss collection, formed circa 1950s to 1970s.

THRACE. Byzantion. Circa 3rd century BC. (Bronze, 22 mm, 7.10 g, 12 h), host coin struck under the magistrate Asopios, then countermarked to be used in Byzantion and Kalchedon, c. 260-246. Head of Dionysos to right, wearing ivy wreath; at the base of the neck, countermark bearing a helmet in square frame. Rev. BYZANTI EΠI AΣΩΠIOY Poseidon standing facing, head left, holding Nike and trident; countermark of a corn ear with leaf to right punched on lower field. SNG BM Black Sea 67 (with these same countermarks). Dark brown patina. Nearly very fine.

THRACE. Chersonesos. Circa 386-338 BC. Hemidrachm (Silver, 12.5 mm, 2.14 g, 12 h). Forepart of lion to right, head turned to left. Rev. Quadripartite incuse square of raised and sunken quarters, with caduceus and pellet above VE monogram in the opposed sunken quarters. BMC 42. HGC 3.2, 1437. McClean -. Lightly toned. Lightly porous, otherwise, very fine.
