BYZANTINE SEALS. Theophilos, Imperial Strator & Dioiketes, circa 10th century. Seal or Bulla (Lead, 20 mm, 4.44 g, 12 h). ΚΕ ΒΟΗΘΗ ΤΩ CΩ ΔOYΛΩ ΑΜ[..] Cross potent on a base and two steps, with fleurons on either side of the base. Rev. +/ΘEO/ΦIΛΩ B'CT/PATOP S' Δ/IOIKHT' in four lines with fleuron above (?) and below. The whole within plain dotted border. Unpublished in the standard references. An interesting seal of a imperial court officer who was in charge of the stables. Nearly very fine.

BYZANTINE SEALS. Konstantine, Circa 10th-11th century. Seal or Bulla (Lead, 18 mm, 4.78 g, 12 h). O /Δ/H-M/H/T' Nimbate facing bust of Saint Demetrios, holding a spear over his right shoulder, and a square shield with his left arm. Rev. †KE BΘ/ TΩ CΩ Δ/ ΚΩN in three lines. Bang and flan fault on the reverse, otherwise, very fine.

BYZANTINE SEALS. Imperial. Constantine IX Monomachus, 1042-1055. Seal or Bulla (Lead, 34 mm, 32.46 g, 12 h). +ΕΜΜΑ-ΝΟΥΗΛ Draped bust of Christ Pantokrator facing, wearing nimbus decorated with five pellets in each arm, holding Book of Gospels with his left hand and raising his right hand in benediction. Rev. +CΩNSTANT AYTOKRA[T RM] Bust of Constantine IX facing, wearing jewelled crown with pendilia and jewelled loros, holding staff surmounted by cross in his right hand, and globus cruciger in his left. DO Seals 6, no. 73. Zacos I, 79 (but from different bulloterion from the published examples). Nicely and deeply toned. Rough areas on both sides, otherwise, good very fine.
