KINGS OF MACEDON. Alexander III ‘the Great’, 336-323 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 36.5 mm, 16.85 g, 12 h), struck posthumously, Myrina, ca. 188-170. Head of youthful Herakles to right, wearing lion's skin headdress. Rev. ΑΛΕΞΑΝΔΡΟΥ Zeus seated left on backless throne, holding eagle in his right hand and scepter in his left; to left, below eagle, MYPI above amphora. Price 1663. A very attractive, lightly toned coin, well-centered on a broad flan. Nearly extremely fine.
