CELTIC, Central Europe. Helvetii. Late 2nd - early 1st century BC. Scyphate stater (Electrum, 23 mm, 6.08 g, 9 h). Celticized head of Apollo with curly hair to left. Rev. Celticized charioteer driving biga to right; below, triskeles running clockwise. Cf. Allen, SNR 53, 62-63, Castelin 854-5, De la Tour 8897 and D & T 3073 (all with the triskeles anticlockwise). Extremely rare as a variety. Toned. Some flatness and minor marks, otherwise, very fine.
