SELEUKID KINGS OF SYRIA. Antiochos I Soter, 281-261 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 29 mm, 16.89 g, 6 h), Countermarked for re-use in Byzantion around 220-200 BC, Seleukia on-the-Tigris. Diademed head of Antiochos I to right; c/m: prow right with ΠY above Λ to left, all within circular incuse. Rev. ΒΑΣΙΛΕΩΣ ΑΝΤΙΟXΟΥ Apollo seated left on omphalos, holding arrow in his right hand and resting his right on his bow; to left and right, monograms. HGC 9, 128g. SC 379.3c. Interesting countermark of Byzantion. very fine.
