Nomos (Silver, 19 mm, 7.80 g, 4 h), time of Pyrrhos, struck under the magistrate Aris... ˫ΗΡΑΚΛΗΙΩΝ Head of Athena to right, wearing Corinthian helmet adorned with a figure of Skylla hurling a rock right on the bowl, a pendant earring and a simple necklace; behind Athena's neck, E. Rev. Youthful Herakles standing facing, nude but for lion's skin over his left arm, holding club in his right hand and, in his left, a bow and an arrow; above club, owl standing right, head facing; in field to left, [APIΣ]. HN III 1385. SNG ANS 78-9. Sharp strike and well-centered. Light porosity on obverse, otherwise, about extremely fine.

LUCANIA. Metapontum. Circa 400-340 BC. Nomos (Silver, 20.5 mm, 7.49 g, 9 h). Female head to right, wearing single-pendant earring, the head encircled by a braid of hair, the ends of which are arranged as an aigrette at the top. Rev. META Ear of barley with leaf to right; above leaf, retrograde K slanting upwards. HN III 1551. Noe, Metapontum 517 (same dies). Fine style and a rare type. Surfaces a little porous and rough, otherwise, very fine.
