Diocletian, 284-305. Aureus (Gold, 18 mm, 5.28 g, 1 h), Nicomedia, 294. DIOCLETI-ANVS AVG Laureate head of Diocletian to right. Rev. IOVI CONSE-RVATORI / SMN Jupiter, nude but for his cloak, standing to left, holding thunderbolt in his right hand and long scepter with his left. Calicó 4494 (same dies). Depeyrot 2/4. RIC 5a. A splendid example, well-struck, toned and most attractive. Good extremely fine.
