Aemilian, 253. Antoninianus (Silver, 21.5 mm, 3.42 g, 1 h), Rome. IMP AEMILIANVS PIVS FEL AVG Radiate, draped and cuirassed bust of Aemilian to right. Rev. IOVI CONSERVAT Jupiter standing to left, holding thunderbolt and scepter; at his feet to left, Aemilian standing at left. Cohen 16. RIC 4. With a remarkably fine portrait, beautifully modeled, toned, and in relatively high relief. Reverse lightly struck as usual, otherwise, extremely fine.

The antoniniani of Aemilian are uniformly scarce, but are well-known for their usually "so-so" quality and, often, poor metal. This piece is a true exception to the rule! Not only is the silver of good quality, the portrait is absolutely outstanding!.
