Caracalla, 198-217. Tetradrachm (Silver, 27 mm, 13.80 g, 1 h), Laodicea ad Mare, 208-209. ΑΥΤ ΚΑΙ ΑΝΤΩΝΕΙΝΟC CΕ Laureate and draped bust of Caracalla to right. Rev. ΔΗΜΑΡΧ ΕΞ ΥΠΑΤΟC ΤΟ Γ Eagle standing facing with spread wings, his head turned to left holding a wreath in his beak; between legs, star. Prieur 1156. Prieur & Amandry Group III, 41. Very rare and with an elegant portrait of unusual nobility. Nicely toned and sharply struck. Very minor scratches on the obverse, otherwise, good extremely fine.

From a Swiss collection, ex Triton XVII, 6 January 2014, 755 and Gorny & Mosch 151, 9 October 2006, 315 (minor deposits that appeared on the coin in both auctions have since been professionally removed).
