CELTIC, Carpathian region. Uncertain tribe. Late 2nd-early 1st century BC. Tetradrachm (Silver plated bronze, 27 mm, 8.36 g, 9 h), "Herakleskopf" type. Head of Herakles in a lionskin headdress to right. Rev. Rider to right. Demski 1168. Karl 493 (same dies). Lanz 566. OTA 253. Clear. Chipped on the edge, and with the obverse struck from a worn die, otherwise, very fine.

CELTIC, Lower Danube. Uncertain tribe. 2nd-1st centuries BC. Drachm (Silver, 17 mm, 3.31 g, 12 h), Imitating Alexander III. Degraded head of Herakles to right, wearing lion's skin headdress. Rev. VΛΛΙ Zeus seated left, holding eagle in his right hand and scepter in his left; to left, forepart of a 'lion' to left. Cf. Kostial 889-90. OTA pl. 43, 574. Very fine.
