Head of Demeter to left, wearing wreath of grain ears, triple pendant earring and pearl necklace. Rev. [Μ]ΕΤΑ Ear of barley with leaf to left; above leaf, griffin springing to right; below leaf, ΛY. HN III 1589. Johnston Class C, 6.7 (same dies). SNG Oxford 762 (same obv. die). Clear and of fine style. Slight die rust. Very fine.

LUCANIA. Sybaris. Circa 550-510 BC. Nomos (Silver, 25.5 mm, 7.43 g, 12 h). MV (= ΣV) Bull standing to left on dotted ground line, his head turned back to right; all within a border of dots. Rev. Incuse of obverse design except that it lacks the inscription in the exergue. HN III 1729. SNG ANS 845. Toned; unusual arrangement of the ethnic instead of the usual retrograde. Nearly very fine.
