MOESIA INFERIOR. Dionysopolis. Circa 3rd century BC. (Bronze, 20 mm, 7.50 g, 11 h). Wreathed head of Dionysos to right. Rev. ΔΙΟΝΥ Upright club between two stars; in left and right fields, monograms; all within Dionysiac vine wreath. HGC 3.2, 1773. Cf. AMNG I/1 368-9 (controls). Dark green patina. Minor roughness and flatness in strike, otherwise, good fine.

MOESIA. Istros. Circa 150-75 BC. (Bronze, 13.5 mm, 2.66 g, 10 h). Wreathed head of Dionysos facing slightly to left. Rev. [IΣΤΡΙ] Grape bunch and leaf connected by a vine; below, ME monogram. SNG Stancomb 212. Brown surfaces. Porosity and slight pitting. Fair.

THRACE. Abdera. Circa 395-360 BC. Tetrobol (Silver, 15 mm, 2.84 g, 11 h), struck under the magistrate Molpagores. Griffin springing left with both forelegs raised. Rev. Head of youthful Dionysos to left, wearing ivy wreath; ΜOΛ-ΠΑ-ΓΟΡ-ΗΣ around linear frame. May, Abdera 418 (A290/P339). Minor scuff on obverse. Good very fine.

THRACE. Abdera. Circa 395-360 BC. Tetrobol (Silver, 15 mm, 2.79 g, 4 h), struck under the magistrate Molpagores. Griffin springing to left with both forelegs raised. Rev. Head of youthful Dionysos to left, wearing ivy wreath; ΜOΛ-ΠΑ-ΓΟΡ-ΗΣ around linear frame. May, Abdera 418 (A290/P339). Well-struck and lightly toned. Light cleaning scratches on reverse, otherwise, good very fine.

THRACE. Abdera. Circa 395-360 BC. AE (Bronze, 12.5 mm, 1.60 g, 9 h), struck under the magistrate Kleantides. Griffin seated to left, raising right forepaw. Rev. Head of Silenos right; around, KΛEAIN-ETIΔE[Σ] (sic) around. Cf. Chryssanthaki-Nagle Period VI, 53 = May, Abdera 309 corr (spelling of magistrate). HGC 3.2, 1247. Mottled green patina. Some striking weakness. Very fine.

THRACE. Abdera. Circa 360-350 BC. Stater (Silver, 21.5 mm, 10.70 g, 6 h), struck under the magistrate Zeno. ABΔ Griffin seated to left, right forepaw raised. Rev. EΠΙ ZHNΩNOΣ Hermes standing to right, wearing petasos and chlamys; kantharos to lower right. May, Abdera, 448 (A301/P355). Toned; fine style. Obverse slightly off-center, otherwise, good very fine.

ΑΙΝΙON Goat standing to right, his forelegs close together; to right, hydria. May, Ainos, Group XLII, 355 (A219/P241). SNG Copenhagen 412. Very fine.

THRACE. Ainos. Circa 402/1-400/399 BC. Tetrobol (Silver, 13 mm, 2.44 g, 12 h). Head of Hermes facing, turned very slightly to left, wearing petasos. Rev. ΑΙΝΙ Goat standing right, his forelegs close together; to right, amphora; below, astragalos; all within incuse square. May, Ainos Group L, 380 (A232/P263). Only one example known to May. An extremely rare variety. Very fine.

THRACE. Chersonesos. Circa 386-338 BC. Hemidrachm (Silver, 13 mm, 2.48 g, 4 h). Forepart of a lion to right, his head turned back to left. Rev. Quadripartite incuse square with two raised and two sunken squares; in one of the sunken squares, pellet; in the other, ivy-leaf. BMC 13. McClean 4082-3. SNG Berry 501. Light toning. Good very fine.

Quadripartite incuse square with two raised and two sunken squares; in one of the sunken squares, pellet with Α; in the other, bunch of grapes on vine. BMC 18. Dewing 3104. McClean 4088. Weber 2434. A clear and attractive piece. Toned. Good fine.

HGC 3.2, 1534. McClean 3964 (same rev. die). Schönert-Geiss 197 (V12/R15). Well-struck, nicely centered and with a fine toning. Nearly extremely fine.

Fine untouched patina and a well struck and clear example of the type. Nearly very fine.

ISLANDS OFF THRACE, Thasos. Circa 500-463 BC. Drachm (Silver, 15 mm, 3.90 g), c. 500-480 BC. Archaic-style Ithyphallic satyr advancing to right, carrying protesting nymph. Rev. Quadripartite incuse square. HGC 6, 332. Le Rider, Thasiennes 3. Well centered and struck, lightly toned. A scarce denomination. Minor scratches, otherwise, very fine.

ISLANDS OFF THRACE, Thasos. 500-480 BC. Trihemiobol or 1/8 Stater (Silver, 11.5 mm, 1.13 g). Archaic-style Satyr running to right. Rev. Quadripartite incuse square. HGC 6, 333. Le Rider, Thasiennes 4. A clear example of remarkable style, struck from well-made dies. Very fine.

Quadripartite incuse square. HGC 6, 334. Le Rider, Thasiennes 6. Toned and of fine Classical style. Some scratches, otherwise, good fine.

ISLANDS OFF THRACE, Thasos. Circa 412-404 BC. Drachm (Silver, 15 mm, 3.44 g). Ithyphallic satyr advancing partly to right, carrying protesting nymph. Rev. Quadripartite incuse square. HGC 6, 336. Le Rider, Thasiennes 8. Toned. The obverse die of particularly fine classical style. Obverse struck from a somewhat worn and rusty die, otherwise, about extremely fine.

Θ-Α-Σ-I Two dolphins, one above the other, swimming left and right; all within shallow incuse. HGC 6, 340. Le Rider, Thasiennes 12. A lovely coin of fine style. Beautifully toned. Surfaces slightly rough. About extremely fine.

Θ-Α-Σ-Ι Two volute kraters shown vertically in a tête-bêche position; all within an incuse square. HGC 6, 348. Le Rider, Thasiennes 25. Nicely toned and attractive. Good very fine.
