CALABRIA. Tarentum. Circa 325-280 BC. Diobol (Silver, 12.5 mm, 1.02 g, 6 h). Head of Athena to right, wearing Attic helmet decorated with Skylla hurling stone; on neck guard, Φ. Rev. Herakles kneeling right, strangling the Nemean lion with both hands; above, A. HN III 976. Vlasto 1314-21. Slight obverse die shift, flan crack, otherwise, good very fine.

From a collection in Ticino formed prior to 2000.

[TAP]AN Herakles standing facing, leaning to right, lifting and strangling the Nemean lion grasped in a choke hold; in left, club. HN III 976. Vlasto 1377-80. Lightly toned, and with an unusual helmet decoration for this issue. Good very fine.

Youth on horseback left, placing right hand on horse's neck and holding small round shield in left; behind, ΣΙ; below, ΦΙΛΟΚΛΗΣ. Rev. ΤΑΡΑΣ Phalanthos on dolphin left, holding wreath in extending right hand; below, ΛΥ. HN III 965. Vlasto 689. Well-struck and centered; toned. Good very fine.
