ILLYRIA. Dyrrhachion. Circa 200-37 BC. Drachm (Silver, 17.5 mm, 3.20 g, 5 h), struck under the magistrates Philon(os) and Phaniskos, circa 80/70-60/55 BC. ΦΙΛΩΝΔΥΡ Cow standing to right, looking back and suckling calf standing to left beneath her; above, head of Isis to right; to right, grain ear tied above grape bunch. Rev. ΔΥΡ / ΦΑ/ΝΙΣ/ΚΟΥ Divided double square containing two stellate designs. Ceka 441. Maier -. Meta V/84, dies not listed. Toned. Nearly very fine.

From the Vineyard Collection, privately acquired from Baldwins, Summer 1998.

Meta records many dies for this issue for other secondary magistrates, but none for Phaniskos. She does include this magistrate in the index for this issue and also points out an entry in the listings under the magistrates Philon(os) / Maniskos a misreading in an auction sale of Maniskos for Phaniskos, but otherwise it appears she completely missed including the list of coins for Phaniskos.
