MACEDON. Tragilos. Circa 450-400 BC. Hemiobol (Silver, 7 mm, 0.27 g, 9 h). Bunch of grapes. Rev. Τ-P-Α-Ι Within the squares of a quadripartite incuse square. AMNG III/2, 2. HGC 3, 746. Lightly toned and well-centered. Very fine.

From the Vineyard Collection, acquired in May 1998.

Tragilos was a wealthy but obscure Macedonian city that came into prominence in the late 6th century BC; it was destroyed in the early 3rd century AD.
