KINGS OF THRACE. Adaios, circa 275-225 BC. Hemiobol (Bronze, 22 mm, 6.04 g, 9 h), Kypsela?, c. 253-243. Laureate head of Apollo to right. Rev. ΑΔΑΙΟΥ Tripod; to left, bunch of grapes between two monograms vertically arranged. SNG BM Black Sea, 322-25 var. (monograms). Very rare combination of symbols. Fine.

Adaios was a Macedonian, who acted as a Seleucid general in Thrace under Antiochos II. He is believed to be defeated and put to death by the Ptolemies, in the course of the Third Syrian War (246-241).
