Andronicus II Palaeologus, with Michael IX, 1282-1328. Basilikon (Silver, 19 mm, 1.70 g, 6 h), Constantinople, 1304-1320. KYPIЄ BOHΘEI / IC XC Christ Pantokrator seated facing on throne, raising his right hand in benediction and holding Gospels in left. Rev. ΑΝΔΡΟΝΙΚΟ ΜΧΗΛ ΔECΠΟ Andronicus and Michael standing facing, each raising hand to chest and holding labarum between them. DOC 510. PCPC 134. SB 2402. Very rare with imperial legends. Toned. Typical flat areas, otherwise, very fine.



There are to varieties of SB 2402 basilika, those with the emperors names as on this coin, and anonymous issues sporting the legend AYTOKPATOP POMAIωN (or variants). The latter are by far the more common. DOC records just four examples with imperial legends (this being identical to DOC 510) and twenty-seven examples of anonymous issues.
