Andronicus II Palaeologus, with Michael IX, 1282-1328. Hyperpyron (Gold, 25 mm, 4.00 g, 6 h), Class II, Constantinople, 1294-1303. [MP - ΘV] / P Half-length figure of the Virgin Mary, orans, within city walls with six towers; in the upper field, sigla of four pellets. Rev. {ANΔΡΟΝΙΚΟC XM ΔECPOTIC or similar] / IC - XC Christ standing facing, crowning Andronicus and Michael kneeling to left and right, respectively. Cf. DOC 235-261 (sigla not recorded). LPC 62.1. PCPC 127, sigla -. SB 2396. Some flat areas and graffiti, otherwise, very fine.
