Anonymous Folles, time of Nicephorus III, circa 1078-1081. Follis (Bronze, 25 mm, 2.84 g, 7 h), Class I, but possibly a contemporary imitation, Constantinople. IC [XC] Facing bust of Christ Pantokrator, holding book of Gospels in his left hand. Rev. Latin cross set on floral scroll, with X on center, globus and two pellets at each end; two crescents in upper left and [right] fields. DOC I.1-64. SB 1889. Sharp and nicely patinated; a clear example with excellent details for type. Overstruck on an uncertain type, otherwise, nearly extremely fine.

ΑΛЄZ ΔЄ[CΠΟΤ Τω Κ] Crowned bust of teh emperor, wearing loros, holding labarum in right hand, akakia in left; in left and right fields, star. DOC 9. SB 1907. Rare. Toned. Very fine.

Rev. Iω /ΔЄC/ΠO/TΗ / Θv /(ΜΗΡ) The emperor, on the left, wearing stemma, divitision and loros, standing facing, holding globus cruciger in left hand, and on the right, the Virgin, nimbate, wearing pallium and maphorion, standing facing, crowning the emperor with her right hand. DOC 3. SB 1940. A few light scratches on the reverse, otherwise, very fine.
