PHRYGIA. Hyrgaleis. Time of Alexander Severus, 222-235. Assarion (Bronze, 21 mm, 5.08 g, 11 h), year TS (306) = 222. IEPA BOVΛH Diademed, veiled and draped bust of Boule to right. Rev. YPΓΑΛE-ΩΝ / TO Tς River-god Maiandros reclining to left on overturned amphora from which water flows, holding reed in right hand; in left field. Imhoof-Blumer, Kl.M. p. 246, 2 = SNG Ftzwilliam 4978 = Von Aulock, Phrygiens I 352 (same dies). Very rare - only one specimen recorded by von Aulock. Brown patina. Very fine.
