John III Ducas (Vatatzes), emperor of Nicaea, 1222-1254. Tetarteron (Bronze, 15 mm, 2.86 g, 6 h), Magnesia. OA-Γ/Ω St. George, nimbate, holding spear in his right hand and round shield decorated with pellets with his left. Rev. IΩ/ΔEC/ ΠOT - O ΔOY/K/A/C Emperor standing facing, wearing divitision and loros, holding anexikakia in his left hand and labarum in his right. DOC 58. SB 2116. Light green patina and relatively well-struck. Flan fault on the reverse and with a few uncleaned deposits, otherwise, very fine.
