ΘEOFIL' BASIL Crowned half-length figure of Theophilus facing, holding labarum containing a cross and globus cruciger. Rev. +ӨEO/FILE AVG/OVSTE SY/ҺICAS in four lines. DOC 16a var (pellets instead of cross in labarum). SB 1668. Well-struck and with a fine green patina overlaid with earthen highlights. Very fine.

Rev. bASILIOS ET COҺSTAҺT' AЧGG‘ b’ Crowned facing busts of Basil, on the left, with short beard and wearing a loros, and Constantine, on the right, beardless and wearing a chlamys; holding between them in their right hands, a long patriarchal cross. DOC 2c. Füeg 3.A.2. SB 1704. A wonderful example, very sharply struck in high relief. Minor scuffs, otherwise, good very fine.
