KINGS OF THRACE. Lysimachos, 305-281 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 29 mm, 17.00 g, 4 h), Amphipolis, c. 288/7-282/1. Diademed head of Alexander the Great to right, with horn of Ammon over his ear. Rev. ΒΑΣΙΛΕΩΣ ΛΥΣΙΜΑΧΟΥ Athena seated to left on throne, leaning her left elbow on her shield and holding Nike, crowning the king's name, in her right; behind, transverse spear; in inner left, ΠYP monogram; AΦ monogram in the outer right field. Müller -. Thompson 199. Same obverse die as CNG e-auction 318 (2014) 60. With a bold portrait of Alexander struck in high relief; attractively toned. Minor scratches on the obverse, otherwise, very fine.

ΒΑΣΙΛΕΩΣ ΛΥΣΙΜΑΧΟΥ Athena seated to left on throne, resting her left elbow on her shield and holding Nike in her outstretched right hand; in outer left field, crescent to left; in inner left, cult image; in the exergue, monogram of TE. Arnold-Biucchi 20 (O6/R19). Thompson 218. SNG Oxford 3751 (same dies). Of splendid style, struck in high relief, by the same engraver who cut the dies for K series. Good very fine.
