SELEUKID KINGS OF SYRIA. Seleukos IV Philopator, 187-175 BC. (Bronze, 12 mm, 2.23 g, 1 h), uncertain mint, perhaps in northern Syria. Bee with straight wings. Rev. [Β]ΑΣΙΛΕΩΣ [Σ]ΕΛΕΥΚΟΥ Rose. Unpublished, only the second example known. For the extensive commentary on the first piece, written by Oliver Hoover, see Vauctions 305, 2014, 112. Extremely rare. Dark patina. Die break on the obverse, and struck on a tight flan, otherwise, good fine.
