CILICIA. Mallos. Circa 440-390 BC. Stater (Silver, 18 mm, 11.28 g, 7 h). Bearded male diety (Kronos, the Phoenician El?), with four wings, in the running-kneeling position to left, holding a solar disc with both hands. Rev. ΜΑΡ Swan with closed wings walking to right. Cf. SNG France 375-376 (very similar but not struck from the same dies). Clear, well-centered and attractive. Struck from a very slightly worn reverse die, otherwise, extremely fine.

With a particularly attractive, dark green, glossy patina. Some traces of corrosion, otherwise, good very fine.

Helmeted head of Athena right; behind neck, E; below truncation ΠA monogram; olive branch on the lower right field. Rev. ΣΕΛΕΥΚΕΩΝ ΤΩΝ ΠΡΟΣ ΤΩΙ ΚΑΛΥΚΑΔΝΩΙ Nike advancing left, holding wreath; in the left field, two monograms. SNG Levante 684 var (obverse controls). SNG France 911. Glossy dark patina overlaid with earthen deposits/highlights. Very fine.
