PERSIA, Alexandrine Empire. Time of Stamenes to Seleukos, circa 328-311 BC. Double Daric (Gold, 18 mm, 16.76 g), Babylon. Persian king, wearing kidaris and kandys, in the kneeling/running stance to right, with a quiver over his shoulders, holding a short spear in his right hand and a bow in his left; in field to left, monogram; in the lower right field, M. Rev. Wavy-patterned oblong punch. Cf. Nicolet-Pierre 3 (obverse monogram unclear). Flan faults on both sides, otherwise, very fine.

PHRYGIA. Apameia. Circa 166-133 BC. Cistophoric Tetradrachm (Silver, 31 mm, 12.31 g, 1 h), c. 150/140 BC. Serpent emerging to left from a partially open cista mystica; around, ivy wreath. Rev. Bow in gorytos between two upwardly coiling snakes; to left, monogram of ΑΠ; to right, elephant's head to right. Kleiner & Noe Series 23. Pinder 69. SNG Copenhagen 147. SNG von Aulock 3450, 8332. Clear, attractive, nicely struck on a broad flan. Overstruck, otherwise, good very fine.

Bust of Athena to right, wearing crested Corinthian helmet decorated with griffin . Rev. ΑΠΑΜΕΩΝ ΦAINIΠΠOY ΔPAKONTOΣ Eagle landing on a base with a maeander pattern, flanked by the caps of the Dioskouroi; behind eagle's head, star. BMC 97. HGC 7, 670. SNG Copenhagen 167. Glossy dark green patina overlaid by earthen deposits; fine style. Nearly extremely fine.
