IONIA. Ephesos. Circa 180-67 BC. Cistophoric Tetradrachm (Silver, 30 mm, 12.28 g, 11 h), year MC = 46 = 89-88. Cista mystica from which snake coils; around, ivy wreath with fruits. Rev. Two snakes coiled around a bow case; to left, MC above EΦE; to right, lighted torch; between snakes' heads, headdress of Isis. Kleiner, dated 47. Rare year. Struck on a broad flan. Obverse struck off-center and some uncleaned deposits on the reverse, otherwise, very fine.

Serpent emerging to left from a partially open cista mystica; around, ivy wreath. Rev. C•SEPTVMI•T•F/ PRO-COS / TAYPEAΣ Bow in gorytos between two upwardly coiling snakes; above, two facing fasces; to left, OH and EΦE monograms over filleted palm branch; to right, lighted torch. DCA 337. Stumpf 34. Obverse struck slightly off-center, and with a die fault on the reverse, otherwise, good very fine.

EPY / EΞETAΣTEΩN Club over bow in bow case. SNG Copenhagen 610- 615 var (magistrate). SNG Fitzwilliam 4490. Bearing a very unusual Greek name; very rare. Some uncleaned deposits, otherwise, very fine.
