THESSALY. Larissa. Circa 460-450 BC. Hemidrachm (Silver, 11.5 mm, 2.75 g, 1 h). Hero holding a band in both his hands around the head of the forepart of a bull to right. Rev. ΛΑ-Я-Ι Forepart of bridled horse rushing to right, with trailing rein; all within incuse square. BCD I 1110 (same dies). BCD II 153. HGC 4, 455. Lorber 2008, pl. 41, 12. Very fine.

THESSALY. Larissa. Circa mid to late 5th Century BC. Obol (Silver, 11.5 mm, 0.95 g, 12 h). Horse walking to right; above, lion’s head to right. Rev. Λ-Α-RI The nymph Larissa standing to right, balancing a single-handled hydria on her raised left knee; behind her, fountain spout in the form of a lion’s head right from which water pours. HGC 4, 482. BCD II 358.1. With an intriguing reverse scene, redolent of daily life. Some reverse flatness, otherwise, very fine.

THESSALY. Larissa. Circa 420-400 BC. Drachm (Silver, 19 mm, 5.77 g, 12 h). Thessalos, with cloak and petasos over his shoulders, leaping left, both feet off the ground, holding a rushing bull by a band around its head. Rev. ΛAPI-ΣAIA Bridled horse galloping to right; all within shallow incuse square. BCD II 174 (but same obverse die as 173). A nice and clear coin. Horn silver on the reverse, and with somewhat porous surfaces, otherwise, very fine.
