Drachm (Silver, 14 mm, 2.88 g, 10 h), pseudo-Rhodian type, struck for the mercenaries of Perseus during the third Macedonian war, in the name of the magistrate Stasion, 171-168. Head of Helios facing, turned slightly to the right. Rev. ΣTAΣIΩN / P-O Rose with bud to right; to left, bow and club. Ashton 297. Ashton, 34. SNG Copenhagen 786-7. SNG Keckman 800-1. Rare and of historical interest. Very fine.

THESSALY. Hypata. Circa 400-344 BC. Chalkous (Bronze, 15.5 mm, 2.01 g, 10 h). Laureate head of Zeus to right; behind neck, thunderbolt. Rev. ΥΠΑΤ-ΙΩΝ Athena Nikephoros standing left, holding spear; round shield to lower right. Unpublished but from the same dies as the only other example known, CNG e-auction 357 (2015), 59. This is only the second known example of this very rare and desirable type. Nearly very fine.
