KINGS OF MACEDON. Philip III Arrhidaios, 323-317 BC. Drachm (Silver, 17 mm, 4.19 g, 1 h), Magnesia (?). Head of Herakles to right, wearing lion's skin headdress. Rev. ΦIΛIΠΠOY Zeus seated left on low throne, holding long scepter in his left hand and, in his right, eagle standing right with closed wings; in the left field [oenochoe to left]; below throne, shield. Unpublished. Peus e-auction 4, 2017, 76 (same dies). Roma XI, 2016, 239 (same reverse die). Münzen & Medaillen (D) 30, 2009, 221 (same reverse die but of earlier state). Mintmarks possibly intentionally removed; rare, with less than a dozen examples known. Die break on the reverse, otherwise, very fine.
