ΑΛΕΞΑΝΔΡΟΥ Zeus seated to left on low throne, holding eagle on his outstretched right hand and long scepter in his left; to left, AT monogram. Price P56. Very bright, lustrous and clear. Some marks on the obverse, otherwise, good very fine.

ΦIΛIΠΠOY Zeus seated left on low throne, holding long scepter in his left hand and, in his right, eagle standing right with closed wings; in the left field [oenochoe to left]; below throne, shield. Unpublished. Peus e-auction 4, 2017, 76 (same dies). Roma XI, 2016, 239 (same reverse die). Münzen & Medaillen (D) 30, 2009, 221 (same reverse die but of earlier state). Mintmarks possibly intentionally removed; rare, with less than a dozen examples known. Die break on the reverse, otherwise, very fine.

KINGS OF MACEDON. Demetrios I Poliorketes, 306-283 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 29 mm, 16.69 g, 12 h), Salamis (?), c. 300-295. Nike, blowing a trumpet and holding a stylis, alighting to left on a left-facing galley prow. Rev. BAΣI-ΛE-ΩΣ ΔHMHTPIOY Poseidon, nude but for wreath of reeds and a chlamys wrapped around his left arm, striding left, hurling trident from his upraised right hand; to left and right, monograms. Newell -. SNG Copenhagen -. Cf. Gorny 196, 2011, 1425 for a inferior example struck from the same reverse die. Apparently an unpublished variety. Reverse slightly doubled, otherwise, very fine.
