KINGS OF MACEDON. Alexander III ‘the Great’, 336-323 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 25 mm, 17.27 g, 3 h), struck under Philip III, ‘Amphipolis’, uncertain mint in Macedonia, c. 323-320. Head of Herakles to right, wearing lion skin headdress. Rev. ΒΑΣΙΛΕΩΣ ΑΛΕΞΑΝΔΡΟΥ Zeus seated to left on backless throne, holding eagle in his right hand and long scepter in his left; below the hand holding the eagle, antler. Price 111. Troxell, studies, issue H1. Toned and well-struck. Extremely fine.
