LUCANIA. Metapontum. Circa 400-340 BC. Didrachm or nomos (Silver, 21.5 mm, 7.50 g, 2 h), signed by Poly.... Head of Dionysos to right, wearing ivy wreath; on neck truncations, ΠOΛY; behind neck, Σ. Rev. ΜΕTA Barley ear with leaf to left; to left, ivy leaf. HN III 1532. Noe 466 (same dies). SNG Ashmolean 738 (same dies). Of particularly fine style, nicely toned. On cheek, graffito Φ, otherwise, good very fine.
