CELTIC. Danube Region. Circa 2nd Century BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 32 mm, 16.61 g, 10 h), imitating the contemporary Thasos tetradrachms, class II. Head of young Dionysos to right, wearing ivy wreath. Rev. ΗΡΑΚΛΕΟΥΣ / ΣΩΤΗΡΟΣ / ΘΑΣΙΩΝ Herakles standing left, nude but for lion's skin over his shoulder and left arm; resting right hand on club; to left, Μ. Lanz 963-965. Göbl OTA pl. 46 Class II. Toned. Very fine.
