KINGS OF ARMENIA. Tigranes the Younger, 77/6-66 BC. Tetrachalkon (Bronze, 17 mm, 5.32 g, 12 h), uncertain mint possibly Artaxata, 74-71/70 BC. Head of Tigranes the Younger to right, wearing jeweled five-pointed Armenian tiara decorated with a comet. Rev. BAΣIΛEΩΣ TIΓPANOY Nike advancing to left, holding wreath with her extended right hand. ACV 81. CAA 115. Kovacs 158 (but different dies). Well centered, particularly attractive example and very rare. Nearly very fine.

From the collection of Yerets’ Kariatin, Switzerland.

Interesting enough this coin shares the same obverse die with lot 80 which is an unpublished new denomination of the same series.
