KINGS OF ARMENIA. Tigranes II ‘the Great’, 95-56 BC. Dichalkon (Bronze, 14 mm, 3.20 g, 1 h), Pompeian Reorganisation, Artaxata, regnal year ΛΓ (33) = 64-63. Diademed and draped bust of Tigranes II to right, wearing five-pointed tiara decorated with a star between two eagles. Rev. BAΣIΛEΩΣ TIΓPANOY Cypress tree or palm branch; to outer left ΓΛ (date). ACV 105. CAA -. Kovacs 115. Sharply struck; beautiful coin, well preserved for issue. Obverse slightly off center, otherwise, extremely fine.

Diademed and draped bust of Tigranes the Younger to right, wearing five-pointed Armenian tiara decorated with comet. Rev. BAΣIΛEΩΣ TIΓPANOY Tyche standing left, holding rudder set on ground and cornucopia. ACV 63. CAA -. Kovacs 130 (this obverse die). Very rare; with a fine portrait of the son of the Tigranes the Great. Struck from a slightly worn reverse die, otherwise, good very fine.

Diademed and draped bust of Tigranes the Younger to right, wearing five-pointed Armenian tiara decorated with comet. Rev. BAΣIΛEΩΣ TIΓPANOY [ΔHMO] around tripod. ACV -. CAA -. Kovacs 131 var. Cf. 96 for similar reverse die. An interesting variation of a very rare type; sharp surfaces. Some corrosion on the fields, otherwise, nearly very fine.
