KINGS OF ARMENIA. Tigranes II, 95-56 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 27 mm, 15.94 g, 11 h), imitation of the Tigranocerta tetradrachms, Samosata (?), after 69-66. Head of Tigranes II to right, wearing diademed tiara with five peaks and ornamented with an eight-pointed star between two eagles, their heads turned back toward the star; beed and reel border. Rev. ΒΑΣΙΛΕΩΣ / ΤΙΓΡΑΝΟΥ Turreted and draped Tyche of Artaxata seated to right on rocks, holding palm with her outstretched right hand; at her feet to right, the river god Araxes; in the field to right, monogram of TIΓP; all within laurel wreath. ACV 35 (this obverse die). CAA 24, 40. Kovacs 123 (this obverse die). SCADA Group 6. Toned and clear. Flan fault on obverse, and slightly off center, otherwise, good very fine.
