CYPRUS. Uncertain. Early 5th century BC. Stater (Silver, 20.5 mm, 10.92 g, 6 h). Ram walking to left, upon which an ankh symbol is superimposed. Rev. Laurel branch with bud at top, and a leaf and fruit on each side; anchor to left, Ξ above ankh to right. Asyut, pl 32 N, O var (same obverse die but no symbols on reverse). Robinson, "Greek Coins Acquired by the British Museum, 1938-1948" in NC 1948, 5 var (same). Zapiti & Michaelidou 2 var (same). Very rare, an apparently unpublished variety. Struck from a, typical for the series, very worn obverse die, otherwise, very fine.
