KINGS OF ARMENIA. Artaxias I, 190-160 BC. Chalkous (Bronze, 13 mm, 2.33 g, 3 h), second series with Greek inscriptions. Diademed head of Artaxias I to right, wearing five-pointed tiara decorated with a star. Rev. [BA]ΣΙΛΕΩΣ - APTAΞEPΞOY Cornucopia tied with a fillet; to outer right, [CA]; to outer left, XP. Kovacs 46. Vardaryan 89,1 (As Artaxias II). A very rare late chalkous, with brown surfaces and unusually complete legends. Obverse struck from a slightly worn – as usual – die, otherwise, very fine.

Diademed head of the deified Tigranes I to right, wearing five-pointed tiara decorated with a star. Rev. BAΣΙΛEΩΣ MEΓ[AΛOY TI]ΓPANOY ΘEOY Elephant standing to left. ACV 145-146. CAA 143. Kovacs 54 (this obverse die). A very rare issue of Tigranes the Great, honouring his deceased father. Some uncleaned deposits, otherwise, about very fine.

ΒΑΣΙΛΕΩΣ ΜΕΓΑΛΟΥ ΤΙΓΡΑΝΟΥ Tigranes in biga charging to left. ACV 136. Alram 212. CAA 141. Kovacs 61. Extremely rare; the better of the two available examples. Some rough areas on the reverse, otherwise, nearly very fine.
