(rosette) SIC CVNCTVS PELAGI CECIDIT FRAGOR (=Thus ceased the whole tumult of the sea - Virg. Aen. i, 154) Neptune driving his chariot through the sea to stop a naval battle. Rev. NULLA SALUS BELLO, PACEM TE POSCIMUS OMNES (=there is no safety in war, to thee we all sue for peace - Virg. Aen. xi, 362) View of the city of Breda; above, two genii supporting the shields of Denmark, France, England, Holland and Sweden; in the exergue, BREDA / Den. 7 Sept. 1667 with, to right, G.POOL. MI, I, p. 534, 183. PiN 1219. Van Loon II, pp. 538-540, vii. A lovely, beautifully toned example. Some minor marks, otherwise, extremely fine.
