KINGS OF SOPHENE. Arsames I, circa 255-225 BC. Tetrachalkon (Bronze, 18 mm, 3.38 g, 12 h), first series. Smaller diademed head of Arsames I to right, wearing bashlyk with beaded edges. Rev. ΒΑΣΙΛΕΩΣ ΑΡΣΑΜΟΥ Arsames on horseback to right holding spear against two attacking soldiers; beneath the horse fallen enemy soldier. ACV -. CAA -. Kovacs 1.1. Extremely rare; fine dark brown patina with particularly appealing details for the series. Good very fine.
