KINGS OF MACEDON. Alexander III ‘the Great’, 336-323 BC. (Bronze, 14 mm, 3.21 g), struck posthumously, uncertain mint in Asia Minor, after 323 BC. Macedonian shield ornamented with five linear crescents around the edge and a pellet at the center. Rev. K Bow-case and club; grain ear to right. AMNG I 207-8 (Kallatis). Liampi 160-2. Chocolate patina and pleasing. Struck on a tight flan, otherwise, nearly extremely fine.

Head of Herakles to right, wearing lion’s skin headdress. Rev. ΑΛΕΞΑΝΔΡΟΥ Zeus seated on throne to left, holding eagle in his right hand and scepter in his left; to left, long torch; below throne KAP monogram. Price 1829. Well centered and toned. Very fine.

KINGS OF MACEDON. Alexander III ‘the Great’, 336-323 BC. Stater (Gold, 18 mm, 8.57 g, 12 h), struck posthumously under Seleukos I Nikator, Babylon, circa 311-300. Head of Athena to right, wearing triple-crested Corinthian helmet adorned with a griffin on the bowl, pendant earring and pearl necklace. Rev. ΒΑΣΙΛΕΩΣ ΑΛΕΞΑΝΔΡΟΥ Nike standing left with her wings spread, holding laurel wreath in her right hand and stylis in her left; below wing to left, monogram within wreath; to outer left, monogram of MI. Price 3749. SC 81.3. A splendid, well centered, lustrous piece struck on a broad flan. Bang on the reverse edge and nimor scratch on the obverse, otherwise, extremely fine.
